Giving the orchard a prune

February 22, 2018

It may be a little early to start sowing next season's crops, but there's plenty to keep us busy in the orchard at this time of year. We have a myriad of different apple varieties in the orchard, allowing us to harvest different apples from August to November, some of which are irresistibly sweet the moment you pick them, and some of which are still delicious after months of storage. We use this time to tidy up the branches a little so there's plenty of space for next year's fruit to grow, and we'll thank ourselves for this much needed work next autumn when the harvest repays us in fruit!

Keep your eyes peeled for our Apple Day event next autumn when we celebrate the bounty of the harvest by juicing and bottling the apple juice.
